Corosex filter material is used to adjust the pH level and dose magnesium ions into the water. The granules of this material, consisting of magnesium oxide, pass into the water in the form of magnesium hydroxide, and in the intergranular space and on the surface of the granules, free carbon dioxide contained in the water is neutralized.
The use of Corosex is advisable if it is necessary to increase the hydrogen pH of the water, but it should be borne in mind that during interruptions in operation or low flow rates in the water in contact with the material, the pH level increases to 10.5. In this case, with an increased content of calcium ions in the water, “cementation” of the load may occur.
Corosex increases the water hardness, so the filter with it is placed before installing the softener.
For more economical use, this backfill can be mixed with Calcite filter material, which allows the pH level to increase to no more than 9 during interruptions in operation. Thus, the expensive Corosex is used more economically, and the value of the hydrogen index is regulated more smoothly.
The material is supplied in 18.7-liter bags.
