Quartz sand is a natural material that is widely used for pretreatment in water treatment systems, removing mechanical impurities in domestic, commercial and industrial water treatment.
It is characterized by a high content of silicon oxide, as well as a low content of soluble calcium, iron and manganese compounds. The main advantages of quartz sand are its widespread availability, cost-effectiveness, as well as high efficiency and resistance to mechanical and chemical influences.
Due to its natural origin, this material does not change the quality of the treated water, does not emit harmful substances and is chemically inert.
Quartz sand is available in several fractions, each of which has its own exceptional properties, and is used both as a filtering material and as a support layer in water treatment plants:
- 0.4-0.8 mm fraction provides a level of mechanical purification of up to 30 microns;
- fraction 0.8-1.2 mm – up to 50 microns;
- fraction 2.0-4.0 mm – up to 100 microns and is the most commonly used as a supporting layer of the main load.
During operation, for effective cleaning, the backfill should be regenerated, which in this case is carried out using the filter backwash mode.
Quartz sand is supplied in 25 kg bags
